Firefox think my search query is an address, auto-complete it into "www.[input]".

I'm considering comeback to Firefox. As a long time chrome user, I've gotten used to use address bar as search bar However, In firefox this cannot be always successful, if I type in 15+15, My intention is to search this in google and therefore get the calculation result. But instead Firefox add www. prefix in the front, "fix" my result.

Also, 15/3 was interpreted as 0.0.0.15, this doesn't even make sense, what kind of ppl type their IP this way? Not me at least.

I've tried to disable autofix in the about:config, no luck.

Whilst the location bar behaviour may be changed note that the default behaviour allows you to

You have a search bar adjacent to the address bar why not use that ? Hi aeryon,

I am assuming you are looking at the navigation bar and not just the homepage.

The location bar itself is fairly powerful

And the search bar gives options to easily change the search

Hi John Thank you so much for your prompt reply. As I am an old user of chrome, I sort of expect Firefox to be able to "just work": press F6, enter something and browser should guess correctly whether it is an search query or an actual address.

In fact, I'm thinking what I'm experiencing is more of a bug than a feature? 15+15 generally should not interpret as an address, even there is such an website: www.15+15.com. Firefox should add both prefix and a postfix such as .com to it?
