I can't upgrade to or install v. 23.0 as hangs while checking add-on (there are none) and if I cancel that, the program menus don't work so is there a fix?

I'm running version 21.0 on a 64-bit Windows 8 pro system and it works fine but if I try to upgrade to version 22 or 23, it hangs while checking add-ons even if there are none. If I cancel the check, the program window opens but it won't respond to menu commands at all.

I've tried a clean install (uninstall, clean up disk, registry,, etc. and re-install) and, while it installs, the results is the same - no menu actions. I've tried a .ini file override to bypass the check but it still does it.

I can re-install version 21 and all is well again.

From the information gathered when you asked your question it shows that version 23.0 is installed and you are presently using it.

Yes, but I wrote the question at home on a different PC. The one with the problem is running Windows 8 Pro.
