I am a new hand with Windows 8 and in need of step-wise instructions on how to migrate Firefox bookmarks from Windows XP to Windows 8. I had tried some suggestions I found from the internet by copying the Profiles folder from XP to 8. The result was that Firefox could not open because it could not find profiles, and I had to uninstall & reinstall Firefox on my Windows 8 to resume Firefox.

Chosen solution

For keeping your tags on bookmarks use the .json type

or for universal use (other browsers that dont support tags), export w/o tags
