Avira 2014 Free - Scans slows Firefox to crawl on XP/Pro SP3.

NOTE: Comodo IceDragon 26.0 does slow some, but not as bad as Firefox 26.0.

I like Avira because it's well behaved and not running all over the net w/ no browser open like Avast did. Note: it does not appear to be avast updates either... I'm bug free so that's not it...

I only have Avira installed without the stupid toolbar!

I found the slow-down problem: Memory Fox 7.4 by IDEVFH

I recommend this add-on; just remember to turn it off with Avira Scans 8)

Is Avira scanning files in the Firefox profile folder or otherwise keeping a lock on files in the Firefox profile folder or the Firefox program folder?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

NOTE: I'm advanced user - Safe Mode Scans are faster, but it's a necessary hassle at times.
