The survey showed a mozilla emblem and all ....is this legitimate? or is it a fraud ... the survey's URL which popped up in a separate window was: http://promorewards.satisfactionsurveystar.eu/?sov=412864010&hid=dpjppplhlhdvtf&adsupcompliantnews=adsupcompliantnews&noaudio=1&nopop=1&noalert=1&id=NYPY_pop .... i saved the screen shot if anyone wants to see it as a JPEG .. was this a fishing type of scheme or a legitimate survey from Firefox ... u would think they would give us a bulletin before the survey saying that this would be maybe appearing sometime in the future ....

edit: unlinkified the url. (philipp)

Your System Details looks very light/empty. Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting.

  • Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.

Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

  • At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  • Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

While you're waiting for my next reply, please do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

You might want to check in your Control Panel for any suspicious software you haven't installed. You can get there two ways

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program
  • Hold the WINDOWS key while pressing the R key and type control appwiz.cpl into the Run box to open the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs window

hello, unfortunately you are right to be suspicious about that. this appears to be a scam tactic and no genuine messages by firefox or mozilla, since we don't run such kind of business or promotions, we are focusing on developing great software products instead!

maybe it's a problem caused by adware on your pc. please go to the firefox menu New Fx Menu > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).

Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

if it is a website that is using the firefox brand in order to attract attention or misleading users to participate in these surveys, you can report that as a trademark violation to mozilla at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/ so that further action can be taken on it.

thank you!

!00% a scam. The satisfactionsurveystar dot eu is showing up as a well known scam/spam and also spreading virus/malware.
If I were you I would do an extra scan with your anti-virus software. I do not think there is an infection cause it looks like it is a standard spam/scam without any "extras". But better to be on the safe side :)
For that reason too: maybe wise to remove/alter the URL you mention so it can not trap others?
