Have been dealing with this issue since the latest NIS update.

Norton ID Safe settings has the following message under 'Browser Extensions':

Mozilla Firefox (default browser):status could not be determined

Another issue just noticed by Norton support, 2nd level (just before engineering level), is ID Safe settings is missing the last 2 tabs: 'Proxy settings' and 'About'.

Norton support states so far, that something in FF 29.0.1 is blocking Norton from seeing/determining the 'enabled/disabled' status of its extensions.

Status is 'OK' for IE and Chrome, so this is indeed strange. Why not FF?

Running the latest version of NIS, Norton Toolbar, Vulnerability Protection, Win7 and Firefox. Also, here is a list of extensions loaded:

NoScript AdBlock Plus Tab Mix Plus Image Zoom Paste Email Original Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar Dictionary.com Norton Toolbar Norton Vulnerability Protection

All these extensions are up to date.

What setting could be causing these two to not communicate the extension status?

This is all also running on a brand new HP machine, all cleanly loaded.

All this is doing, is checking extenion enable/disable status according to Norton support, so, not really that big of a deal, but with the addition of the missing 2 tabs in ID Safe settings, is a bit unsettling, causing one to wonder the current status overall.

We've uninstalled NIS, and FF, reinstalled in different orders, tried ID Safe stand alone, installed in safe mode, used SnD to fully remove these items and reinstall, tried with and without extensions, uninstalled/reinstalled Vault, created new Norton account and installed new Vault for it, all these things tried multiple times actually.

Any ideas? What is keeping these two from communicating since this latest NIS update while its working fine with IE and Chrome?

I don't know what method Norton is using to determine the enabled/disabled status of the extensions, unless the extensions themselves are supposed to report on their own status (phone home) every so often.

Is there anything special about the Firefox installation, such as a custom location on disk, or is everything default?

Yes, I don't know what method they're using either sadly.

There's nothing special here about the installation of FF, no custom location, etc., everything was installed default.
