When using the style editor in a fresh install of the newest version, sometimes the CSS will stop applying to the page. Even clicking the "eyeball" icon on and off does not restore functionality... the CSS will momentarily reapply if you make a change to the CSS, but quickly stop displaying again within a second. I've seen this behavior on 3 different computers... some of which Firefox upgraded by default.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
