I have several email addresses that I use in Thunderbird. All of these but one are from the same provider. Almost every time I try to go to the next message in a folder, Thunderbird locks up and I get the "not responding" message. Now, the strange thing is, if I mark all messages in a folder as read before clicking on a message in that folder, it doesn't do that, it will load it right up. But if I click on a message that has not been marked as read Thunderbird locks up and takes several seconds to display the message in the preview pane. Why is that? And what can be done to fix it? They are all set to POP mail, none of them are IMAP. The same goes for deleting messages, when I click on delete, it delays a second or two before deleting the message. This doesn't make any sense whatsoever because if you want to delete something, then it shouldn't load it from the server again just to delete it! It should not do ANYTHING but delete it!

Does it work better if you use a message window instead of the preview pane?
