On an old desktop PC, still running XP with AVG free virus scanner. I leave my machine running so AVG can update at night. All of a sudden Thunderbird had received the same message over 200 times. It took a while to delete them all, and now I have to leave Thunderbird off so it will not keep receiving this same message. It is a message from my sister that contains some attached images, photos from her camera, and on webmail the message only appears once. I did not change any configurations, except, after this problem started, upgraded from Thunderbird 31.6.0 to 31.7.0. Any Ideas?

Try to delete the message via webmail or move it to a different folder on the server. It's highly unlikely that the TB update is causing this. It's more likely Avast is messing with Thunderbird files. Therefore the Thunderbird profile folder should not be scanned by anti-virus software.

Deleting from the server does not help because if you have more that 100,000 messages deleting all unwanted emails can be an unending task. I have set my Thunderbird so that it deletes all my deleted mails from Hotmail Server when I empty my deleted folder in Thunderbird --- But some how Thunder bird is not deleting the deleted messages from the Hotmail server and the same deleted message will again be downloaded by Thunderbird not only one time it will download that deleted message several times. Sometimes 3 to 4 times. There definitely is a bug in Thunderbird and this must be resolve in future releases of Thunderbird if there is no solution to stop this. This does not happen with other email clients like Outlook, Windows Live, Pegasus, etc.

If anybody has found a solution to this I shall appreciate to get HELP to solve this problem. Alternative Mozilla Thunderbird should work on this to resolve this problem
