I had to recover my computer from a fatal crash and want to restore my bookmarks from an external backup of my harddrive. How can I do that?

This backup is not a Firefox backup file, it is just a backup to an external HDD. I have the ability to restore down to the individual file and I am selectively rebuilding my computer and don't want to do full restore from the HDD.

What is the file type of the backup that you have? Is it a JSON backup file? Or a bookmarks.html file? Or is it the places.sqlite file?

Each one of those has a different procedure.

Sorry I was not clear enough in my post. It is neither a JSON, an html or a places.sqlite file. My HDD crashed and I don't have the luxury of one of those, but, what I do have is a backup of my HDD as the files natively exist. I was hoping there was a way to copy a favorites directory from the HDD backup to my newly restored HDD.
