Hello,

When I open a new tab with Ctrl+T, URL bar is not active, so I cannot start typing address or search request right away. I have to either click on it with my mouse or hit Tab key several times switching between different page elements until URL bar becomes active. I rarely use mouse in general sticking with the hotkeys most times. Hiting Tab is pretty annoying as well. I failed to find a workaround in the docs. Therefore, I would like to know, if there is a way to make url bar active the moment the new tab is open or if there is a hotkey to switch to the URL bar straight away. I switched to Firefox from Chromium and it works that way by default there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Which element is active when you open a new Tab?

I am on Windows 7 with Firefox 44.0.1 and the Location Bar is active with the flashing cursor when I open a new tab; always was like that for me. Perhaps one of your add-ons has changed the default action in a new tab?

the-edmeister, thank you for the prompt answer.

Actually, no element seems to be active. When I press Tab once, the Search bar becomes active(the one above recommended pages, not the one beside Location bar).

Forgot to mention that I use Firefox 44.0.1 on Ubuntu 14.04.1. I have just checked two other machines with Windows 7 (Firefox v. 44.0.1) and CentOS (Firefox ESR 38.5.0). Indeed, it all works smoothly there with Location bar active and cursor flashing. All instances have the same add-ons installed. Maybe I messed up with the installation somewhere.

Thanks for the lead.
