I can't post comments to some websites using Firefox. When I click in the comment box, the cursor does not appear, and I can't type or paste any text.

I do not have this problem using Chrome.

Here's an example site where the problem occurs:

Hello, Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

thank you

I still have the same problem in Safe Mode. Any more suggestions?

Here's another problem site. The [Comment] button is completely unresponsive in Firefox, but it works fine in Chrome.

I tried these two sites:

L.A. Times: unfortunately when I click on the box to try to type a comment, the site slides down an overlay requiring registration, so since I don't have a login, I don't know whether it would work normally after that.

Marketwatch: for me the comment button works in regular mode, but in private mode, the Tracking Protection feature breaks it. If I turn off tracking protection using the "shield" icon at the left end of the address bar, then the button works. See: What happened to Tracking Protection?.

It turns out that on at least one site, http://dailycaller.com/, the problem is caused by AdBlock. Disabling that allows the comments to load when you click on the Show Comments button. However, that site runs extremely slow and balky. It runs a little faster and smoother in Chrome, but admittedly, not much.
