Since I used 1 time Compacting folders my Thunderbird doesn't display new e-mails anymore
April 1 I manually emptied the Thunderbird trash bin on my laptop. A pop-up advised me to compat my folders, so I did. Since that moment Thunderbird doesn't display any new e-mail. As I have a desktop with Thunderbird, too, I can receive new e-mails, but I like to use my laptop. What have I done wrong to make TB no more displaying new e-mails?

What is the account type on both, laptop and desktop - POP or IMAP?
Both POP
Have you told Thunderbird on the desktop to leave messages on the server? This is an option in your Account Settings.
I'm using a Dutch version. If I understand what you mean, it is (translated from Dutch): Leave messages on the server
14 days maximum Till I remove them.
right click the inbox, select properties and then the repair button. It may be something caused a bad index to be written on the compact and now it just updates rubbish.
