I just upgraded Firefox (50.0.1) on this Windows 7 box. Every time I open Firefox, it opens two tabs. One is okay, but the other is asking me to sign-up for sync. I don't want to bother with sync. In fact I would prefer not to bother with repeatedly closing this tab. How do I make it stop?

Hi, Firefox is able to open multiple home pages with the URLs separated by a 'pipe' (|), so please see - How to set the home page, and in 'Home Page,' make sure that in addition to your home page URL, there isn't anything else - if there is, just delete it. (the Firefox start page is about:home but you may have set a different one; the New Tab page is about:newtab; and if you want a blank page, it's about:blank).

If it's easier, you can just click on Restore to Default instead.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Your information is incorrect. All it says is "Show my Home Page," and I know how to adjust my home page at this point in browser evolution. I did make use of the "Restore to Default," which I kind of thought I was already running the default. Let's hope that works.

There ought to be a negative choice somewhere on the setup sync dialog page.

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.
