I have Windows 10 home. When I do a system backup I am told that a shared picture file can't be found. I do not share pictures, but there is a list of them. My question is - when I attach a picture to an email does Thunderbird call this a shared picture. If this is the case how can I stop it and how do I remove those files?

I do not know what your issue is, but I doubt thunderbird has anything to do with it.

Thunderbird copies the file and converts it to mime encoded text in the body of the email. It in no way modifies the file that is on your system.

I would be more inclined to think the files are shared on your phone or a cloud drive
