Why do password boxes still make me click and select username?

I've had usernames/passwords already saved for years in my Firefox, but I've noticed the last several weeks that rather than the password auto-populating (even though the username auto-populates), I have to click on the password field then I can select the (one and only) username from a drop-down (it has a key icon next to the username) to populate the saved password (which is secured from a master password which I get a prompt for when I go to the site with the login form).

So everything is working right except for the auto-populate of the password, which Firefox used to do after confirming my master password.

What's going on? Chrome doesn't work this way (I mean it allows that drop-down but most sites with just one saved username auto-populate the password). Is it just the website forcing this? Did Firefox change their logic? Am I missing a step somewhere in settings?

hi, i think firefox no longer automatically prefills stored passwords for insecure (http://) pages. if you want to change that, enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named signon.autofillForms.http. double-click it and change its value to true.
