How to restore an old Firefox session if Session Restore is not working properly?

more options

Hello,

Several times, I have such a problem and I rename to sessionstore.js this: upgrade.js-<build_id> from this folder: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\n31kin57.default\sessionstore-backups and put it in this folder: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\n31kin57.default\

Today, however, the problem is not solved. Only one tab is loaded. How can I manually load my sessionstore.js file?

Regards!

First, please make backups of these files so that multiple attempts are possible.

Second, if History > Restore Previous Session is grayed, then either Firefox already restore the file or it could not use the file. Check for previously closed windows and tabs on the History menu. It may be easier to use the menu on the classic menu bar (tap the Alt key to activate it if you do not normally display it).

Third, Firefox 56 uses a new compressed format, and its files have lz4 in the extension. Do you need to use one of those? You would need to name the copy sessionstore.jsonlz4 instead of sessionstore.js.

Finally, I'll mention I have a tool on my website to pull out the URLs from a session history file and convert them to a page of links. It's a possible Plan B if you can't get the file loaded.
