Pressing the Esc key doesn't unfocus the url bar

Pressing Esc doesn't unfocus the url bar. This prevents extensions' shortcuts such as the ones of Vimium-FF from working when pressing new tab.

Would it be possible to enable unfocusing the url bar when pressing the Esc key? I'm not quite sure but I think that it worked in older Firefox versions.

Little confused here how is "ESC" key related to the unfocus?

I don't think you can change how Firefox interprets the Esc key when it is in the address bar. Maybe sometime next year that ability will be made available to add-ons. Until then, you can use the F6 key to move the cursor between the address bar and the document.
