Why does Thunderbird create a new address book for each vCard I import?

I have a few vCards that I exported from Microsoft Outlook. Each vCard contains a single contact. When I import the vCards into Thunderbird's Address book, each vCard creates a new Address book with a single entry, containing the contact information contained in the vCard. This is not the behavior I want. I want each vCard I import to go into whatever SINGLE address book I have selected.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
