I have my email set up on: Mac Desktop, 2 iPhones, an iPad and a Mac Book. I am unable to send emails from my Mac Desktop to comcast.net addresses. No problem sending from all my other devices. I eventually receive the following message:

=====
  • Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:*

xxxx (xxxxx@comcast.net) <mailto:xxxx@comcast.net> Your message couldn't be delivered. Despite repeated attempts to contact the recipient's email system it didn't respond.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their email system isn't accepting connection requests from your email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

Is there something funny about OS X Yosemite 10.10.5?

As the message says. contact comcast. Mail from web sites and apps (which are glorified web sites. generally do not use the same outgoing server so there is no comparison between apps and Thunderbird when diagnosing things.

A very common issue is the SMTP server of an ISP is black banned because of spam. This is very common where comcast is concerned as they have an in house spam system that accepts user reports. If two of their users report spam, the sender is banned. Just like that no questions. The real downside is the folk who use the spam button to identify mail they do not want to see that they originally subscribed to. Makes it difficult for everyone else.
