Unacceptable!

Only Solution: Disable Update.

Type “about:config” in the address bar, then press “Enter“.
   Search for the “app.update.auto” setting.
Double-click the “app.update.auto” option to toggle the setting. If set to “true“, automatic updates are enabled. If set to “false“, automatic updates are disabled.

Your Firefox updates are from package updates from Ubuntu and not from Mozilla.

My browser displayed "Sorry. We just need to do one small thing to keep going." So either kubuntu or Firefox made an update.

Even if the update is made by kubuntu, firefox should not force me to restart it.

I mean in my 15 years history i have often made an apt-get upgrade while running firefox, iceweasle, thunderbird.... I know that this is risky. I know that there could be problems. But i never experienced a crash or dataloss. But now a minor update it is such a great problem to force a hard reset. In my opinion a hard reset is exactly the same a crash: Unacceptable.
