I would like to change the color or font of some names in my address book, and have that color or font show in the TO entry when I compose an email. The changed color or font would not appear in the email when it is sent, only when I am composing the email. I would like to have this because as I type the start of an email address in the TO box, several choices appear, and a few times I have accidentally clicked the wrong choice and sent the email to the wrong person. If I differentiated email addresses, say one color for family members, another for friends, a third for colleagues, etc., I would be less likely to make this mistake. I have set up Thunderbird so that for selected email addresses the sender and subject are in a different color on the main page that shows received email. But I haven't found a way to have different font colors for the recipient address when composing email. Is there a way to do this?

What you describe would be a useful feature, but I'm not aware of any way to do it in TB. The only option I know for organizing address autocomplete is to define the address books that are searched by autocomplete, on a per account basis. So, e.g., if you have a Personal address book, you can set the account for sending to Personal contacts to search only the Personal address book for matches. Similarly, if you have a Work account to send to Work contacts, you can set that account to only search a Work address book. This requires the MoreFunctionsForAddressBook add-on.

The MoreFunctionsForAddressbook add-on doesn't seem to beavailable through the add-on tool in Thunderbird (version 60.5.0) Is there a way to suggest the feature I describe to the developers?

The MoreFunctionsForAddressbook add-on is available at the link in my first reply. How to install add-ons.

A suggestion for a new feature is usually submitted as a Request For Enhancement at Bugzilla.
