What operating system are you on?
Windows 7, 64 bit professional
Okay, hopefully someone who knows that operating system can step in. I'm on Linux, so I can only guess what to do on your side.
See the following for information on creating a profile:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles
To summarize:
In Terminal run: "thunderbird -ProfileManager" Click on "Create Profile" Name it: default Use the default folder location. Tick "Don't ask at start up" And finally click "Start Thunderbird"
So, when I try to open Thunderbird I get the message about a profile and it closes. All I get otherwise is a DOS screen. I can easily put my Seamonkey profile in but I don't see a way to do it in windows explorer files.
Again, I'm not sure why the wizard did nothing to help me set up the program.
Yea, it's weird.
One possibility is that it's choking on something. Check to see if a profile doesn't already exist.
See the following link on how to find it:

If there is a profile under the Thunderbird directory, make sure Thunderbird isn't still running in the background, and then move the contents of that folder to a backup location.
Then restart Thunderbird.
