Thanks for the reply. This seems to work. However the workflow that I have had to follow to make it work is as follows:

1) Copy the link to the clipboard (by highlighting the link and entering Ctrl C)

2) Highlight the text

3) Ctrl K to open dialogue box

4) Paste link in link location (Ctrl V) and then click OK
