constantly having to (re)install Firefox

operating system- OSx High Sierra

Download and install Firefox. Open and use it, getting a couple add ons, and bookmarking some pages. everything seems fine and works fine. Shut down my Mac and go to use it next time, Firefox should still be ready to go. Only, when Firefox has closed somehow and I need have to reopen it, it needs me to go through the set up and install again. Once this is done and I can use Firefox again, Ive lost all my history, add- ons, opened tabs, bookmarks. This has happened about 4 times now since I wiped my hard drive and switched my Mac back to OSx. I never close out Firefox and usually just put my computer to 'sleep'. Anyone know whats happening?

The Mac DMG file doesn't automatically install Firefox persistently, you have to manually drag Firefox into the Applications folder as described in the following article:

How to download and install Firefox on Mac

After that, you should be able to run Firefox from Applications (through the dock maybe?) and you can discard the DMG file.
