Default search engine icons missing after profile restore

After a fresh install of Firefox everything works, but after copying over my old profile data the built-in search engine icons disappear. I have tried the "Restore Default Search Engines" button, deleting search.json.mozlz4 and favicons.sqlite. I cannot find any setting or file that references an icon URI for these search engines.

This happened a week ago, and then after a fresh install I only copied over the most important bits of the profile and setup a lot of things from scratch, but I don't want to repeat that again...

Where are the search engine icon URIs stored? What do I have to set, edit or delete to fix this?

I think that normally removing search.json.mozlz4 with Firefox closed should restore the search engine icons.

You can try to clear the startup cache via the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to see if that has effect.
