When I scan a barcode using Firefox, characters are added/rearranged. This causes errors for our company's customers and inaccurate data entry. Scanning the attached barcode produced the following results in Firefox:

I have checked for updates, cleared my cache, and rebooted my browser. I've also tried disabling active extensions.

Received a response from Zebra. The scanner has settings (Fast HID Keyboard and Quick Keypad Emulation) the browser cannot handle. In this case it was Quick Keypad Emulation (I assume because of the numbers instead of text. Waiting for confirmation from Zebra). After disabling this setting I was able to produce consistent and accurate results. I've never had this problem on my laptop (but have seen it on others) so I'm assuming it's related to a plug-in or extension. I hope this information is useful. I will consider this resolved unless you would like more information to look further into the problem.

All three barcodes (code_128/text) in the screenshot show this result for me if I scan them with a barcode scan extension in Firefox or with a barcode scanner on my mobile device. I'm not seeing parenthesis like in your question part, so I don't know whether they are present in the barcode. How are you scanning the barcode in Firefox ?

I am scanning with a Zebra DS8108 Barcode Scanner. I didn't scan all three barcodes one barcode created different results with each scan. The scanner is programmed to include parenthesis around field identifiers. Would this (or another setting) cause errors with browsers?
