Bookmarks deleted after password recovery for Firefox login.

there was no warning or i might have missed it that if i reset my password, i will lose all my bookmarks.

Hi Z, do you still have your original Firefox installation, or did you lose your Firefox installation and have to set up from scratch?

Normally, if you still have your Firefox installation, you can try one of these:

(A) Try restoring one of Firefox's automatic bookmark backup files. See: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

(B) Check for a different profile. See: Recover lost or missing Bookmarks.

If you ran a Windows 10 Refresh, Windows may have saved your old Firefox data in a temporary folder named

C:\Windows.old

If you find a folder with that name, we can guide you in rescuing important files from it. Let us know.

Hello jscher2000,

I was trying out windows 11 and went back to windows 10 with a fresh install. The reason I didn't save any bookmarks is because I have Firefox syncing my links saved all the time. I was 100% dependant on this account. Thank you sir. Z

Hi Z, I don't have a solution in that case.

When Firefox uploads Sync data to the cloud, it is encrypted with your current Firefox Account password. If you change the password without providing a recovery key, the previous data becomes useless -- it cannot be decrypted without the old password -- so it is discarded. (See: I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do)

Maybe someone else has an idea.
