In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • do not clear the Cookies
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
more options

I don't have "Clear History" selected. I can't find "Site Preferences" options in Settings. I never click "Clear Cookies." "Manage Cookies & Site Data" lists all the sites I had in the "Manage Exceptions" list. This problem came to my attention that this list is now empty when sites I've been automatically logged in for years -- e.g., Amazon-- stopped logging me in automatically.

"Site Preferences" is part of the choices when you use "Clear Recent History" (Ctrl+Shift+Delete) and in the settings for "Clear history when Firefox closes" (you need to select "Use custom settings for history").

more options

I don't have that option.

OK, it is named "Site settings" in your screenshots and doesn't have a tick, so this is OK and not causing problems.

more options

See the attached screenshot of "Manage Exceptions" for Cookies. It is blank because it doesn't retain my exceptions. If I enter even one exception, then exit Firefox, then re-launch Firefox, the entry(ies) in this window will be GONE.

I didn't have this problem before this newest update. If it can't be fixed, please give me a link to a previous version.

P.S. I even have to log in HERE EVERY time I reply!

You can try to rename/remove permissions.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case there is a problem with this file

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

Apparently I'm missing the permissions.sqlite file.

Please give me a link to a previous Firefox version.

What about that second profile (qkuxn6ws.default-release) ?

more options

I didn't know to find the file in another folder.

While Firefox was closed, I renamed that file as you suggested. I kept the Win File Mfr. window open when I re-launched Firefox. Another permissions.sqlite file was instantly created.

But it made no difference.

I entered a couple of website in the "Manage Exceptions - Cookies" window.

I closed Firefox, then re-opened it. As before, the "Managed Exceptions" window remains blank.

May I please have a link to a previous version.
