Why not use Sync? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-choose-what-information-sync-firefox You should also run multiple version of Firefox because Sync will see each version as a different device and you can backup you info across the versions. see screenshots

You can create a sample HTML file and compare the file source with the file that fails to import.
