Safari is behaving normally (I was worried I had a virus, but remembered Macs are quite robust in this respect) Firefox is opening websites and displaying some text normally and most text as Wingdings (or is it Webdings? I'm not sure) including on the Mozilla site where drop down menus are all in Wingdings My yahoomail is behaving strangely via firefox, where the home page is normal, some emails are normal, some are mixed with wingdings and some are completely in wingdings! (again, must stress that this is not the case when opened via safari) Same with banking, where only the side menu is affected. So it seems that only certain categories of text are affected. And googling this problem has led to nothing, as most of the complaints were about firefox not displaying wingdings! I can't really connect it to any event, change or action, but another issue my computer had was that I suddenly didn't have access privilege to my ical and had to go into my finder to reset privilege (which hadn't been changed and was showing I had privilege-- logged out, logged back in, no change, restarted, no change, turned off & on, and it worked again.) Also, played Windosill and other Vector Park games on it recently-- but I doubt there is a link.

Issue was known and resolved for Windows: http://nothing.golddave.com/?p=53

But no file found containing "encoding.symbol".

^: That is something entirely different and anyway that fix doesn't work anymore because that file is no longer used.
