firefox won't go online after update
After an automatic update Firefox will no longer connect to the Internet. IE still works. I have searched through all the suggestions I can find and nothing has helped. Turned off my firewall, turned off all the addons. Everything suggested that I found on the Internet without result. The same happened at the same time to another computer running Win XP, but it was resolved when I ran an anti-virus scan. The computer that now has the problem is running Win Vista and Firefox 3.5.13. A virus scan hasn't helped. Anyone else solved this problem? Douglas

I assume that you used another computer or dual booted a Linux distribution.
On the Windows computer, remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.
See Server Not Found - Troubleshoot connection problems and Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls
Your above posted More system details list shows that you have two Flash plugins installed on this computer.
You should remove the older 10.1 r53 version.
- Shockwave Flash 10.1 r85
- Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53
Thank you for your suggestions, Yes, I am using another computer. I had already tried removing rules for Firefox without success. I have now tried restoring the computer to an earlier date, deleted Firefox, and removed the rules for Firefox. McAfee failed to detect Firefox on booting it up so I added Firefox rules manually. These all failed to let Firefox connect to the Internet. Perhaps I'll have to uninstall my McAfee Security, i'm reluctant to do it because it's a beta trial and I won't be able to restore it if the problem isn't solved. I just now checked the error console on the Firefox program and have the following message: Livemark Service feed processor received an invalid channel for http:// fxfeeds.mozilla.com/en-us/firefox/headlines.xml file:///c./program%20files/mozilla%20firefox/components/nsLivemarkService.js Line 985
