When I visit a URL, Firefox loads that page and also opens a new tab with a URL based on some word in the original page. E.g., www.tripadvisor.com url opened in a new tab. Is this a feature I can turn off?

E.g., I searched for "shovel" in the location bar. A list of results was presented. The first one was as follows. When I clicked on that link, the Amazon.com page with a bunch of shovels opened, as well as another tab with the home page of Amazon.com.

May be this is a Google issue and not Firefox issue.

Amazon.com: Shovels Online shopping for Shovels from a great selection of Patio, Lawn & Garden & more at everyday low prices. www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=3753671 - Cached - Similar

Is this due to a malware named turbo search? I see a URL with the word turbo flash in the location bar before the final page is reached.

More info on this. I have a bookmark on the bookmark toolbar for Amazon.com. URL is www.amazon.com. When I click that, amazon.com is loaded but in the location bar history, I see the below 2 URLs, too. http://useupper.com/c/1.php which is followed by http://turbo-search101.com

This is annoying and somewhat inexplicable behavior. It seems to happen only the first time. Once amazon.com is opened once, it does not happen.

Seems that turbo-search101.com is some type of spybot and many spyware removal software do not handle it correctly.

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

This was resolved by using Kaspersky AntiVirus, trial version. It cleaned up everything.
