Pop-up acts as if it is a tab, how can I change that?

Using FF4 RC on Windows 7 64 bit and also noticed it on XP 32 bit. I often make use of a sports ticker that shows in a pop-up window and I usually close the main window once the ticker displays. When I then want to open FF again to browse to a different page the main window opens with the last page visited and not with the home page. Also, the pop-up gets treated like just another tab. What I want to reinstate is the behavior of FF3, which was by far better. Any way to do this?

I tried various variations, but the basic issue is not resolved. I never had an issue with having the pop-up to show in a new window (the default settings are fine for that), but when I then close the window that spawned the pop-up I will get that page to show again when I run FF again. Instead of the previously visited page it should show what I defined as home page. The home page setting is not set to "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

Addition: I cleaned this post up a bit to make it clearer and give an example. As a note, when I refer to "main window" I mean the full sized window as it appears when first starting FF. Use FF4RC to go to www.sportal.de, this is a German sports website. On the right is a section labeled "Live-Ticker". Ideally, open a live ticker for either "Fußball" or "Eishockey", other might work as well. The ticker appears in a pop-up window that is sized appropriately (and I want that this way). Now locate within the pop-up window a link and select "Open in new tab" from the context menu. What I want is to have the tab open within the pop-up, but it opens in the main window. Also, close the main window and repeat the steps in the pop-up. What happens is that the main window opens showing the pop-up content AND the new tab in the main window. Also, close the main window, leave the pop-up open, then click on the taskbar/desktop icon again. This when you'll see that the main window opens with the last visited page rather than what I defined as home page. Also, depending on how many of the full screen windows are open, closing one of them asks if I want to close all tabs although only one tab is open in that window. This seems to be a bit inconsistent, but that is what I originally meant with "acts as if it is another tab".

Doing all this in 3.6.15 works exactly as desired and IMHO exactly as it should. I think FF4 is broken. I'll wait a few days for more replies and otherwise file a bug report. This should at least be configurable.

Supposedly, this is by design, see bug 628043. Uninstalling FF4 as it is unusable this way. What a major disappointment.
