Why was support for PPC removed from the latest version?

I was surprised to find that PPC support was removed from the latest Firefox Mac version. I'm very unhappy with this decision. I'll have to continue using version 3 for now, but will it be supported? for how long?

I understand it's been a while since Apple switched over to Intel, but many older PPC macs are still around and mine still runs fast enough...

There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

Thanks! I wasn't aware of that version and it works wonderfully :)

But, one might ask: If there is a third-party version that works, and that Mozilla developers are all recommmending (I've seen a few of these comments) why not integrate it into the "official version" and actually release Fx for PowerPC?
