I have just downloaded Firefox 4. I cannot get sound on internet sites. My sound works perfectly on the same site with IE. All the sound sliders are on maximum and no mute. I notice that other people have this problem

I had the same problem but had no slider at all for Firefox. Apparently it was a problem with Vista refusing to recognize Firefox after it had been muted. I found a fix that worked at the following link:

The"Easy" fix proposed on the suggested website did not work for me as the downloaded "firefix" was not recognised by my version of Windows Media Pl;ayer. Since my question, I have reverted to FF 3.6 and still have no sound.

I have now found the solution. First open a website that has sound. This is important. Then right click the loudspeaker icon next to the clock. This opens the sound manager. Select volume control and one of the options is sound container for Firefox. In my case this had reverted to Zero. Set some volume and it works
