On my web page, when I open a javascript popup window it appears in full screen instead of the designated size. Worked okay in old FF. Works intermittently in FF4. I resized the popup and it worked okay for a while and then reverted back to full screen. If I open in safe mode it works ok. If I disable all addons in regular mode it does not. Also, when I close browser it returns to last screen instead of home page. Don't know if these problems are related. thanks.

Thanks, but it didn't work. I tried resetting the file in the safe mode method. It did reset everything but the problem still continues, intermittently.

For the problem with session restore you can try this:

Make sure that you close Firefox properly, otherwise session restore will try to open the tabs and windows from the previous session.
If you immediately shutdown Windows after closing Firefox then try to give Firefox a bit more time or check the Task Manager to see if the Firefox process and the plugin-container process are terminated.

See also "Hang at exit":

This can also be a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

Very frustrating. System does not hang. Will take a look at sessionstore. But this never happened before loading FF4 and does not occur in Explorer. Are you sure it's not a problem with FF4?

The problem is unrelated to session stores. It happens on brand new JScript launched windows.

Did you check the advanced JavaScript settings?
