Over the years, there have been several add-ons with "mail notifier" in their name. I'm assuming yours was disabled during the upgrade because it isn't compatible. Can you check here:

Tools > Add-ons > Extensions

and see exact what it's called? Also, you can click the "Gear Icon" button and check for updates.

It was disabled upon upgrading so i reinstalled the mail notifier Add on. The new Add on does not provide notification in the status bar. Thank you for responding

There's no Status bar in FF 4 anymore. It's now called Add-on Bar.


You can use the following add-ons to get the Status Bar as well as the WebMail Notifier back on the bar:
