I finally upgraded to Firefox 4 the last couple of days, and I'm having trouble displaying bold courier. Normal courier seems to work fine but when courier is bold on a website, the font shifts to something different entirely. I have not checked this on every site, but I have one person confirming they can see the font just fine from their end (they have also upgraded to FF4). Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Here's a comparison for what I'm looking at versus what I should be seeing:

here.

If someone could help me with this I would gratefully appreciate it, thanks.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Try to toggle some of the Boolean gfx prefs on the about:config page to enable or disable some features.
Filter: gfx

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

It's hardware acceleration. Problem is, I don't think there's a new driver for my video card available. I'll look more, but unless there's some other way to fix it I might be stuck with leaving Hardware Acceleration disabled.

I have the same problem. Tried Safe Mode disabling all add-ons. Tried disabling hardware acceleration But no solution...
