I would start with some supplemental security scans at the system level. These two tools are highly regarded:

Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/

Once those come up clean and resolved, start Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode and test with your add-ons disabled. If that works, restart Firefox normally. If the problem recurs, it's probably one of your add-ons.

Before using Safe Mode, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

More info on Firefox's Safe Mode: Safe Mode.

What is the exact message you are getting?
That sounds like it may be a message from Windows 7, and not from Firefox.
