Why don't Firefox instructions for Media Player work?
I tried to follow Firefox instructions to download the plugin for Windows Media Player. The instructions say to save the file to my desktop when prompted to save. However, when prompted, after clicking "save", a blank pop-up window appears with the title of "downloads" at the top. Then a small item appears and disappears from the bottom of the screen which says the download was successful. There is no option to save to desktop.
The Windows Media Player plugin doesn't appear under Tools and Add-Ons, so I guess it never got installed. Explorer still uses it just fine. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

You can choose the Save location only when the "Always ask me where to save files" option is selected. Otherwise it saves to the default "Save files to:" download location. Set the options.

Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:
- Plug-in check --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
- Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in: Installing (or Updating) the Shockwave plugin with Firefox
- Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape: Installing/Updating Adobe Reader in Firefox
- Shockwave Flash (Adobe Flash or Flash): Updating Flash in Firefox
- Next Generation Java Plug-in for Mozilla browsers: Installing or Updating Java in Firefox
I will check the plugins. Thanks. However, I didn't see an option to set my preference to save downloads to my locations. There wasn't any "Always ask me where to save files" option that I saw. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
