Firefox 19.0.2. doesn't remember the map for the downloads. It places my downloads in de temp map instead of the one I choose in the options. I have made changes in the about:config map as advised in the FAQ, but that didn't solve the problem

It is possible that anti-virus (security) software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
