Since upgrading to v23, the searchbar no longer functions - I can enter search terms, but the drop down appears on my second monitor, and when hitting enter, nothing happens - i.e. searching from the search bar no longer works, for any search engine installed.

Also, while it may seem like an unrelated issue, I use the Devonthink add on, in order to capture html pages from firefox directly to Devonthink Pro. After capturing the HTML page into DTP, I can than convert it to a searchable PDF. When converting the page captured from v23, in DTP, all I get is a mirror image and a partial capture of the viewable portion of the original HTML page.

Both of these functions worked perfectly in v22, but are broken in v23. I have since downgraded to v22, and both functions work as expected, so there's clearly an issue with v23 of Firefox.

The only "fixes" were to either downgrade to v22, or to start with a new profile, in v23. The search bar functioned normally when starting in safe mode, in v23, but not when ALL add-ons, themes and extensions were disabled.

Whatever changes were made in v23, required a new profile to "fix" this issue.

Starting over, reinstalling all extensions, and trying to set the same preferences is a very frustrating way to mitigate this kind of software behavior.

Thankfully, it's not required often.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Is this the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar or the search bar on the about:home page?

How can I save, and restore the dozens of tabs I've got opened? I didn't see a solution for that posted in the "reset FF" link, and, without that ability, it's not a viable solution.

FYI - I've already tried deleting several profile files, as suggested in one of the searchbar troubleshooting fixes, from Mozilla.

Thanks for the reply.

It's the searchbar on the Navigation toolbar. I've tried the linked fixes, and they didn't help.

Using V22 works fine, though.

Thanks for the reply

Any updates regarding v23, and this issue?

Thank you for creating this awsome browser that I am using since it was a beta.

I have this annoying problem too. I hope there will be a fix soon, as it really breaks the flow off browsing (I use ctrl k - enter often).

Hi Bluloo, thank you for your answer! Perhaps if you use also other computers the addon Siphon - Sync Add-ons can be of help: that means if you use quit a lot of them as I do. It helpt me a few times before.
