Prior to Version 23 I set Wikipedia as the default search option in the location bar and Google as the search engine on the Firefox Start Page.

Now with Version 23 whatever I set in the location bar is used in the Start Page--in other words, it's duplicated.

Why was this change made by Mozilla? Please explain how this was an improvement.

This did not improve usability. Please restore this to its previous (useful) functionality.

We consolidated the search engine preferences due to malicious add-ons abusing the search engines in Firefox to raise revenue for themselves by hijacking users and making it difficult to restore the search engine defaults.
