I've been having this problem since Firefox 21, if I am on a website and click on a link it minimizes to the desktop for no reason with the circle spinning for 10-20 seconds then goes back to browser page. Also while loading webpages Firefoz lags pretty bad, again the circle that shows it loading will stop while everything freezes then it will unfreeze 20 seconds later.

No rhyme or reason this seems to happen randomly. This has been happening since Firefox 21 and it happens on multiple computers, and laptop I use or desktop it does this....all different configurations. AMD/Intel CPU's or Nvidia/ATI video cards make no difference. No anti-virus loaded just Windows 7 32bit Home Premium

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
