Avast has told me I need to update Firefox. I actually have Waterfox, not sure if there is some remnant of Firefox I need to get rid of (if so I would need advice). Does a Firefox update apply to Waterfox or would it have its own updates?

Waterfox would have its own updates and should prompt you to install when necessary. You can also update manually seeing as you're on 24 and Firefox/Waterfox is on 28 at the moment. You can do that by downloading the installation file and installing it over your existing Waterfox installation.

Also, Waterfox has its own support team since it's not maintained nor hosted by Mozilla.

I thought they had a forum but they have a thread at overclock so you can submit your further requests there since this is a Firefox forum.
