How to make tab borders visible?

more options

Just updated to ff 29 and the tab borders are almost invisible.

In the previous versions of firefox you could see where one tab ended and next started, in current there is this very light half length grey line that is almost invisible on right and nothing on top.

How do I make it so that the tab borders are visible? (Something like a full black line on left/right of tabs and some clear border between the tabs and the menu bar on top)

Oh, yes, forgot to say that the problem is only for nonactive tabs, the active tab is fairly well bordered. (though the grey on it is bit close to the background color, so ability to make it bit darker would be good too)

MANY MANY people suffering problems with 29.0.1 tab colours matching the background, breaking formatting of some cloud services and is almost impossible for hard of sight users or high contrast users to navigate. The developers imho have made a fatal misjudgement and need to issue a patch immediately for this issue so that users have the choice of colour scheme.

fwiw, it is possible to solve tab colour with themes but why should an add-on be needed to restore basic functionality; this is an absurd solution being offered on many threads.

I use Firefox as my primary browser at work. I start every day with ELEVEN tabs (two pinned), all renamed and locked for specific tasks I do throughout the day. I am on the phone all day. I add and close ADDITIONAL tabs all day for different tasks.

Additionally, I am over 50 and am having some problems with my eyesight. I've just recently gotten progressive lenses but even that doesn't help me with the new Firefox design.

It's very hard to tell where one tab begins and one ends. I could not wait to switch themes in order to find one that works for me at work. However most of the themes are just as bad - I can barely tell where one tab ends and the other begins. It's hard to click through the 11 tabs I need for work, let alone the additional tabs I open for different tasks.

Additionally the font is so light that on many themes (and I have looked at least 200), I cannot read either the tab names or my shortcuts on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

  • You can check the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.

Hi luvirini, if you like rounded tabs but want an outline on the inactive ones -- which is what I wanted myself -- you can apply a custom style rule using the Stylish extension or by creating a userChrome.css file.

The rule itself is posted here: http://userstyles.org/styles/100627/outline-background-tabs-firefox-29-australis

If that's too subtle, I posted a couple variations (see the notes down the page).
