Have you tried to open the last message in a new window? If that includes the messages you do not want to print, you could limit the printing to e.g. the first page (in the print dialog).

For more advanced options you could look at the PrintingTools add-on.

By default, TB prints only the selected portion of a message body, so that should work on the last message in a thread.
