A windows update failed. Once I had resolved the issues and successfully installed the update, I went into the Thunderbird Inbox folder, to find only unread messages were present. Checking other folders all seemed well. When I search I can find one example of a read message saying it is in the inbox, but I can't see it. I attach images of the search results and my current inbox. Any ideas how to get the missing read messages back?

Suddenly I can no longer send emails. Various messages (wh do not copy), most with hieroglyphics and mentioning the need for authentication. I have very low IT skills & have tried the easier solutions found on the internet. A particular question: some web answers suggest that sender addresses with @wanadoo.fr (the old name for Orange) may no longer be compatible with smtp.orange.fr outgoing mail. If so, what to do? Thanks for any ideas.

I didn't know there was a non-ESR version of Thunderbird until I found out by chance a few days ago! Since the latest update to ESR 128.5.2 has crashed 11 times this week, I would like to move to the latest version (64 bit?) non-ESR. There must surely be an official Mozilla step-by-step guide to doing this?

When I ask Thunderbird to import from Outlook (under the tools menu) it only brings across empty folders.
For example, when it creates the “Outlook Import” set of folders in Thunderbird I get an empty “Outbox” folder. But it does not create an “Inbox” (that had 1 email in it, in my test case I was trying).
This is odd, because I’m sure I have seen this work correctly (importing all folders and emails) recently.
At first I thought it was something about this particular email account, so I tried another and got the same result. So I created a new user on the PC (Windows 11 with all the latest updates), set up an email account in Outlook there, did the import in Thunderbird and exactly the same happened, only the empty folders.
It does this with the main IMAP account I have set up in Outlook and also with a PST I opened in Outlook. It always runs without any errors, but only imports empty folders.
I’m using the latest build of Thunderbird (128.6.0esr (64-bit)). It’s also the latest version of Outlook Version 2501 (build 18429.20044).
What’s going on?

Hello,
I am using Thunderbird on a Win 10 PC, with Bitdefender AV. Thunderbird crashes shortly after opening, generally within a few, say 10s. Crash reports are generated and sent.
The most recent are; bp-f3259bbe-b088-477a-b6da-aa4550250119 bp-95774bbe-10bb-4026-be18-685030250119 bp-f62abd3b-4597-417d-b05c-36ff30250119 bp-55073989-ed27-4b83-a4ac-d677a0250116 bp-601e3185-8abd-4123-b3a2-5dfa10250116 bp-b3c6d9bd-55a3-420a-b917-937aa0250114
The crashes continue when safe mode is used. Nothing else seems to be affected.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Charlie.

I have just synced Thunderbird with my web email which worked fine. I then emptied my web email account as it was full. This is the methodilogy that I have been following with Thunderbird for the last 20+ years.
Thunderbird then re-synced with the now empty web email and deleted all of the emails that I had downloaded. I then checked the trash but it is empty. I have just lost around 1 years worth of emails.
Just for clarity the web email is an IMAP account.

After migrating my Windows Live Mail (WLM) 2012 email folders to Thunderbird, I saw that the folder names were truncated and not the same long name I had the folder named in WLM. I have been editing the folder names by copying the WLM folder name to my clipboard and then renaming that truncated folder name in Thunderbird by renaming the folder use the CTRL-V (paste from clipboard).
Prior to today after having done the above, the renamed folder in Thunderbird was moved according to its new alphabetical name in the listing, but usually in the same vicinity of folders that I was renaming. Now, the newly renamed folder seems to disappear from the listing. I scrolled through all of the folders from a to z but couldn't find it. Out of desperation, I closed Thunderbird and then reopend it to see if that would refresh my list of folders with those folders I had just renamed. And, sure enough all of those renamed folders are visible and in the correct alphatical place on the list.
Any guidance or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Is that on PC there's a way to access through a specific way with Owl, but on mobile I don't see that option on my PC or even lacks addons.

Open Settings
General/system Integration
click on check now (to see if Thunderbird beta is trh default mail client on startup)
No boxes are ticked (mail, newsgroups, feeds, calendar)
I tick the Email box and then click 'Set as default'
This closes thar box I then click on 'Check Now'....the ticked Email has unticked itself.
Note: I go to menu and access 'Preferred Applications' .....Thunderbird does not appear as a choice for 'Mail' It also does not appear in the Menu. I do not know how to make that happen

I found several unread emails in my Spam folder (without that folder indicating anything was in it), yet "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" is NOT set. How do I ensure that NO email gets put in the Spam folder automatically?
Also, what is the difference between what you call Junk vs Spam? I see no Junk folder.

Hello - Some years ago I had old Emails recovered by the support team which were indeed fully deleted in all folders of T'bird. They directed me to the online version to achieve the recovery and it worked well. I am need again and cannot locate those instructions. To be clear, the procedure was from the support team guiding the way. Anyone have possession of these instructions or algorithm, or a better method that still works? Many thanks :)
