Hi,

My trash refuses to stay deleted. I delete it and close Thunderbird. The next time I log in, it's back in the Trash folder. This has been going on for over a week.

I have had Thunderbird for years so I know that it isn't in my settings. What is going on?

Two questions. My mail icon now has a 3 in the upper right corner and I cannot figure out why it is there nor how to address it.

Some of my email, when sent, is not being save to my send folder and instead a new send folder is created for me to save that sent message. Does not always happen. Could this be related to my first issue?

Thanks, I am a previous Outlook user and new to Thunderbird.

I have all of my emails in IMAP folders. When I travel I don't always have internet access. It would be helpful to have access to work-related emails at those times. Two questions:

(1) Is it possible to store emails in both IMAP and local folders so I can access them offline?

(2) Is there some setting that can automatically store all emails in IMAP and local folders?

Thanks for your help!

I am preparing for a transit from MS and Outlook to Linux and Thunderbird. My outlook is set up in a way that all pop-3 accounts are in one PST file. I have almost no experience with Thunderbird, though I have set up Thunderbird on a test laptop and created one account as IMAP to test. this works nicely. I want to cancel my MS office subscription to not being forced into windows 11 in 2025! Office libre does the rest of the office app job.

BUT Outlook seems a different beast. Now, for the transition form Outlook to Thunderbird I will need to move over all PST files (the current one and all archives):

How can I import a PST file (which contains data of several e-mail accounts) into Thunderbird.

Does that work at all? If so, (I hope) how do I need to set up Thunderbird with all the accounts which are in the PST? What are the pitfalls? Should I use an automated (software solution) to be on the safe side or just not to not screw up?

Thanks a million for your tips and help

When I forward a message to someone, I have the problem, that since ca. 2024 (a new version), at the beginning of my message are included (reproduced) all the informations from the original sender. It includes half a page or more of dates, which nobody needs. How can I reduce it?

This is an example of a mail, which I get from Thunderbird and would forward it (please answer me by mail):

I am getting the infamous "Unable to write to disk" message on all of my pop accounts.

I have plenty of disk space and the hard drive does not have errors. I changed all of the attribute bytes to write (not ready only) I created a new account with no imports. It also gets this error. I have one IMAP account that allows me to at least read my email, but I can't organize it. If I copy my pop account folders to that IMAP account they upload. Uh, no thanks. If I copy my pop account folders to the local folders area, same error (Unable to write to disk) I uninstalled and re-installed, and the profiles were all still there. I would even settle for incoming on an IMAP and moving incoming email to my pop folder, but you can't do that either.

I fear that the profiles are somehow corrupted. I have ALL of my email backed up and restore-able. There are some messages on the server that need to stay there for now.

Please help. I've spent 10+ hours on this and none of the existing help seems to apply here. I'm on the brink of giving up and switching to another tool.

Since a week ago, I can receive emails from a friend's email address just fine, but not reply to those emails or even sent new emails. They all come back as undeliverable, BUT say they're undeliverable to the secondary email I have for her, even though I never sent the email to the secondary address. Even after deleting the secondary address AND deleting and re-entering the main email address for her, no luck. I can send emails from my webmail.shaw account to her without problems. I would love to have this issue fixed ASAP, as I need to email her almost daily. Thank you very much, Jane.

I'm using Thunderbird with a Gmail account (amongst others).

Recently, something has changed, and Thunderbird now re-syncs with my Gmail account every single time I start it. It's a big account and this takes a very, very long time; and is very slow.

I do want it to sync, but only to get new messages and delete old ones.

It's almost as if the mail is not being stored locally, but I have ticked 'Keep all messages in all folders for this account on this computer' for this specific account.

Would appreciate some help, please.

Thx

Something changed a few weeks ago (about November 30) and since then Thunderbird will not allow me access to any new emails, nor to be able to send new emails.

Instead, I get a large pop-up window which basically says "Enter credentials: Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your Google Account <my email typed here> This will allow Mozilla Thunderbird Email to: Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail".

I don't want anyone to permamently delete any of my emails, nor do I want anyone sending emails from my email account (etc, etc).

SO I click deny, and the pop-up goes away - that is until I try to use Thunderbird and it pops up again.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years and never had this problem before. Do the Thunderbird or Mozilla techs know anything about this and how do I fix it, or is it a new policy (which means I will no longer be using Thunderbird)?

I have searched here some time in December but nothing suggested by other users worked for me.

I am using Thunderbird on a Windows 10 PC with RCN internet. I had to create a new "account" when an old one wouldn't work since a recent Thunderbird ungrade ( :/ ) and now this new one keeps threading emails, which I hate and want back to individual ones.

Is this possible?

Thank you.
